He died on 1 June 1865 at the age of 89 in Eastford Township, Windham County, CT.¹⁴¹

John GRIGGS Sr. and Mary HOLDEN were married. Mary HOLDEN was born (date unknown).

John GRIGGS Sr. and Betsey CHAPMAN were married on 22 October 1802.^215,234 Betsey CHAPMAN was born on 25 April 1780. She died in Ashford, Windham County, CT. (Her death date is listed as 17 May 1807, but that was before her two youngest sons were born. It is possible that the sons were from her husband's second marriage.)
