The dates listed here are from his cemetery records.( He died in July 1896 at the age of 90 in Genoa, DeKalb County, IL.^5,23 He was buried in Lily Lake, Plato Township, Kane County, IL.²³ in the Baker Cemetery.

John GRIGGS Jr. and Henrietta Ann BROWN were married on 18 March 1840 in Kane County, IL.^5,23 (They had 4 children.) Henrietta Ann BROWN²³ was born on 9 June 1800 in Maine.⁵ She died on 17 April 1885 at the age of 84 in Genoa, DeKalb County, IL.^5,23,370 Obituary Notes: "Mrs. Ann Griggs died at her home in Genoa on Friday, April 17, aged 85 years. Also the sister of the late B. P. and J. L. Brown. She was born in Me in 1800, she removed from Maine to New York, where she became the wife of Timothy Dillon. She removed to Davenpot, Iowa, and after the death of Mr. Dillon came to Genoa, where she became the wife of John Griggs, some 34 years since."
