William Hiram "Willie" ROOT was born on 29 January 1876 in Rudolph Township, Wood County, WI.⁵ He appeared in the census in 1880 in Rudolph Township, Wood County, WI.²⁰⁸ He served in the military about 1898 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³¹² as a Private in Company K of the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. His unit served in Puerto Rico, leaving on April 28th, 1898 and returning home on September 18th, 1898. The unit was based in the Winnebago County area of Wisconsin.

He appeared in the census in 1930 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.³¹⁴ His household was at 2843 Dalton Street and his occupation was "Machinist, Ice Refrigerator." He died on 27 July 1936 at the age of 60 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.⁵

William Hiram "Willie" ROOT and Lillian Elvira STEWART were married on 8 August 1916 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.^2,5,314 Lillian Elvira STEWART, daughter of William E. STEWART and (Unknown) UNKNOWN (STEWART), was born about 1869 in Vermont.³¹⁴ She appeared in the census in 1920 in Palos Verdes Township, Riverside County, CA.³¹³ She appeared in the census in 1930 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.³¹⁴
