18. Erwin J. NEITZEL was born on 19 October 1934 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.²⁹ He died on 31 May 2009 at the age of 74 in Mauston, Juneau County, WI.²⁹

Obituary Notes: "Erwin J. Neitzel 74, of New Lisbon, died Sunday May, 31, 2009, at Fairview Nursing Home, Mauston.

He was born Oct. 19, 1934, to Erwin and Irene (Sonnenburg) Neitzel in the Town of Plymouth, Juneau County.

He graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1954. He entered the U.S. Army Aug. 16, 1954, and served in Germany.

He was united in marriage to Lois Glen in 1961. He worked for Leer Manufacturing in New Lisbon. He later worked at the Chrysler Motor Plant in southeastern Wisconsin for several years, developing a love for the Chrysler auto. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the VA Medical Center in Tomah. He had lived in Kentucky for two years. He wanted to be close to home, returning then to Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Bowling Green, KY; two step-sons, Robert Shughart of Texas and Douglas (Teresa) Shugart of Holmen; two step-daughters, Debbie (friend Joe) Shughart of Bowling Green, KY, and Toni (Duane) Willie of Janesville; five brothers, George (Sharon) of Kendall, Roger (Barb) of Melrose, Robert (friend Nancy) of Pennsylvania, Donald (friend Sue) of New Lisbon and David (Kathy) of New Lisbon; three sisters, Barb (Doug) Moskonas of Cataract, Linda (Richard) Martin of Kendall and Rose Solchenberger of Tomah; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-father. Raymond Sonnenburg.

Funeral services were held today (Thursday), June 4, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of New Lisbon, 116 W. Bridge St. Pastor Stephanie Homann officiated. Burial was in the New Lisbon Cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The Smith-Nelson Family Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with arrangements."
