He emigrated in 1867 from Germany.3 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.4 August appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.3 He appeared in the census in 1910 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.5 His occupation was "Farmer, General Farm." (He cannot be located in the 1920 Census.)

. He died in 1922 at the age of 81.2 August was buried in 1922 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.6 in the St. Paul's German Lutheran Church Cemetery.

August BARTZ and Emilie "Amelia" SCHROEDER were married on 21 July 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.1,2,7 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. They had five daughters and four sons.
