Ottillia Friederike "Ottilie" SCHMALZ, daughter of Michael SCHMALZ and Henriette PRELL, was born in October 1860 in Pawlowko, Kreis Wongrowitz, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).6,8,13 She emigrated in 1879 from Germany.5 She appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.1 (She was listed in the 1880 Census as a sister of Gottlieb Schmalz, and she lived in his household. It is believed that Gottlieb and Ernst were the only children of Michael Schmalz and his first wife, Wilhelmine Kuthlow. So "Otilia" may have been the daughter of Michael's second wife, Henriette Prell. Otilia's age would place her in the range of Michael's second family. If so, Otilia would have been Gottlieb's step-sister.)
