86. Genevieve Theresa SHIE was born on 26 February 1930 in Indian Creek, Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.^9,67 She died on 20 February 2010 at the age of 79 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.⁶⁷

Obituary Notes: "Genevieve (Shie) Gasper, age 79, of Tomah, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center.

She was born, Feb. 26, 1930, to Edmund and Mary (Betthauser) Shie in Indian Creek, Monroe County, WI. She was united in marriage to Fran Gasper, April 30, 1949. Together they moved north of Tomah where they farmed. In her spare time she enjoyed embroidery, reading, doing crossword puzzles, quilting, baking cookies and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Fran; children, Annette Gasper, John (Shelly) Gasper and Kermit Gasper; a brother, Edwin (Marge) Shie; sisters, Rosella (Kenneth) Hoffman and Margaret Zastoupil; grandchildren, Kevin (Meredith) Gasper, Dana and Erika Gasper; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Mary; mother- and father-in-law; a brother-in-law, Howard Zastoupil; her godson, Clayton Miller; and a great-nephew, Jason Hoffman.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel and Father Mike Klos officiated. Family and friends called Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 4:45 p.m. rosary at the Torkelson Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association."

Genevieve Theresa SHIE and Francis Edward "Fran" GASPER were married on 30 April 1949.^38,67,68 Francis Edward "Fran" GASPER, son of John J. GASPER and Adelia E. FIEBIG, was born on 19 September 1925 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.^9,68 He appeared in the census in 1930 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ He died on 27 September 2015 at the age of 90 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶⁸

Obituary Notes: "Francis E. Gasper, 90, of the town of La Grange passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. Fran was born Sept. 19, 1925, to John and Odelia (Fiebig) Gasper on their family farm.

He was united in marriage to Genevieve Shie April 30, 1949. Francis’ life was devoted to farming, where he enjoyed working on the land and raising cows. In his spare time, Fran loved deer hunting and spending time with his family.

Francis is survived by his children, Kermit Gasper, John (Shelly) Gasper and Annette Gasper; grandchildren, Kevin Gasper and Dana and Erika Gasper; brother, Joe Gasper; and sister, Leone Arity. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Genevieve; brothers, Jack and Jerome Gasper; sisters, Loretta Forschler, Margaret Downing and Lucille Miller; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Gasper, George Forschler, Carl Downing, Pat Arity, Laura Gasper, Marilyn Gasper and Red Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at Queen of Apostles Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tomah, with Monsignor Gilles officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015,at Torkelson Funeral Home, Tomah. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date."
