23. Elmer Frank BETTHAUSER was born on 15 August 1900 in Monroe County, WI.^5,9 He appeared in the census in 1910 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ He appeared in the census in 1920 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ (He was living with his brother William and his family.) Elmer appeared in the census in 1930 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Laborer, Farm." He died on 14 January 1986 at the age of 85.²⁸

Elmer Frank BETTHAUSER and Irene E. FAULKNER were married on 10 November 1937.³⁷ Irene E. FAULKNER, daughter of Elmer FAULKNER and Elizabeth BRAHMS, was born on 6 June 1915 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁷ She died on 20 September 2004 at the age of 89 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁷

Obituary Notes: "Irene E. Betthauser, 89, of Kendall and formerly of Tomah, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born June 6, 1915, to Elmer and Elizabeth (Brahms) Faulkner in the Town of Tomah. She was united in marriage to Elmer Betthauser on Nov. 10, 1937. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1986.

She was a past member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in the Town of Clifton and presently was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kendall.

Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Beatrice (Michael) Dwyer of Kendall; five grandchildren, Jeanne (Troy) Johnson of Kendall, Jon Betthauser of Wilton and Dan (Joan) Koeninger, Ralph (Robin) Koeninger and Steve (Tracy) Koeninger, all of Rockford, IL; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Vivian Betthauser of Boscobel; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; a son, Robert; a daughter, Shirley Koeninger, and a grandson, Scott Dwyer.

Funeral services were held (today) Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kendall. Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiated. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Oakdale.

Visitation was Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass."
