19. Emma Matilda BIEGEL was born on 26 May 1928 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^7,23,24 She graduated in 1946 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²³ from Tomah High School. She died on 7 June 2013 at the age of 85 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁴

Obituary Notes: "Emma M. Anderson, 85, of Sparta, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on May 26, 1928, in Tomah, to Richard and Regina (Hammen) Biegel. She had an identical twin sister, Irma Schmitz. Emma grew up in Tomah, and graduated from Tomah High School.

She married Albertus Anderson on June 5, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tomah. They lived and farmed in Coles Valley for their entire married life and raised seven children together. Emma worked as a Military Pay Supervisor at Fort McCoy for 32 years. She belonged to the Coles Valley Homemakers Club and Trinity Lutheran Church. She gave her time and talent to the Ecumenical Food Pantry and she handed out church bulletins at local nursing homes.

Emma was a great cook and fed anyone who walked into her home and she graciously welcomed them to her table. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing. Emma had a great work ethic and instilled this in her family.

She is survived by her husband, Albertus “Bert” Anderson of Sparta; children, Beverly (Keith) Schultz of Sparta, Darwin (Roxy) Anderson of Lancaster, Wis., Sue (Kent) Johnson of Merrill, Wis., Sherry (Steve) Norris of Rochester, Minn., Cindy (Nolan) Thesing of Sparta, Scott (Sandy) Anderson of Sparta, and Brian (Ann) Anderson of Tomah; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Nelson, Grace Bennett, Lea Perron, and Judy (Leroy) Perez; brother, George (Evelyn) Biegel; sisters-in-law, Theresa Anderson, Marlene Anderson, Darlene Wolfe, Sharon (Gary) Bibby, and Phyllis Anderson; former sister-in-law, Alice Anderson; brothers-in-law, John (Sharon) Anderson, Raymond Nauman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Irma Schmitz; brother, Robert Biegel; sister, Doris Nydahl; brothers-in-law, Eugene Anderson, Robert Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, James Anderson, and Rollin Anderson; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Nauman and Shirley Brondhurst.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Reverend Jeffrey Wm. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery, rural Sparta. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Morrow Memorial Home and Trinity Lutheran Church."
