Herman Adam BIRR Sr. was born on 18 March 1847 in Dorf Schwerin, Koslin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).¹ He emigrated in 1868 from Preussen (Prussia).² He appeared in the census in 1870 in Watertown, Jefferson County, WI.³ He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Carpenter."

. Herman appeared in the census in 1880 in Watertown, Jefferson County, WI.⁴ He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Carpenter, Railroad."

. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ Their household was at 307 McLean Avenue. He died on 17 May 1927 at the age of 80.¹ Herman was buried in Watertown, Jefferson County, WI.¹ in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Herman Adam BIRR Sr. and Auguste MARQUARDT were married on 30 April 1882.^1,9 Auguste MARQUARDT, daughter of Carl MARQUARDT and Sophia BAADE, was born in January 1856 in Wisconsin.⁵ She appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ She died on 17 January 1926 at the age of 70.¹ Auguste was buried in Watertown, Jefferson County, WI.¹ in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Herman Adam BIRR Sr. and Auguste MARQUARDT had the following children:
