He appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 He and his wife were living with their son, Fred. Michael died in 1894 at the age of 72.1,4 He was buried in 1894 in Dorset Ridge, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.1 in the Immanuel German Lutheran Church Cemetery. He is buried in the same plot as his wife "Amelie" and brother Carl.

She died on 9 April 1902 at the age of 74 in Monroe County, WI.1,5 Amelia was buried in 1902 in Dorset Ridge, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.1 in the Immanuel German Lutheran Church Cemetery.
