61. Norman Garland BUTTERFUSS was born on 19 September 1927 in Monroe County, WI.28 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.10 He died on 16 November 2006 at the age of 79 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.57

Obituary Notes: "Norman Butterfuss, 79, of Warrens, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born Sept. 19, 1927, to Adolph and Bertha (Vinney) Butterfuss, on a farm near Tomah. He was united in marriage to Joyce Hexum on June 8, 1957, at West Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osceola. They made their home in New Berlin. They were members of Blessed Saviour Lutheran Church in New Berlin for 30 years. Norman worked for Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee as a tool and die maker until his retirement in 1984. In 1985 they moved to the Warrens area. He was an active member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. He loved to fish, hunt, make venison sausage, smoke fish and cook wild game. He was a devoted husband and brother and will be sadly missed by all those who loved him.

Norman is survived by his wife, Joyce of Warrens; two sisters, Darlene (Ronald) Tralmer of Tomah and Eunice Moseley of Warrens; four sisters-in-law, Harriet Butterfuss and Ruby Butterfuss, both of Tomah, Sharon Hexum of St. Paul, MN, and Pat Turner of Chisago City, MN; and one brother-in-law, Gene (Evelyn) Hexum of New Richmond. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Edna Burnstad, Irene Butterfuss, Lucille Sesolak and Aldean Felber, and five brothers, Edward, Raymond, Leslie, Harold and Leonard.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah."

Norman Garland BUTTERFUSS and Joyce HEXUM were married on 8 May 1957 in Osceola, Polk County, WI.57 Joyce HEXUM was born on 31 March 1930 in Nye, Polk County, WI.81 She died on 1 May 2013 at the age of 83 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.81

Obituary Notes: "Joyce A. Butterfuss, 83 of Warrens, died, Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born on March 31, 1930, to Abner and Esther (Carlson) Hexum at Nye, Wis. Joyce was a member of the Osceola High School Graduating Class of 1948.

On June 8, 1957, Joyce was united in marriage to Norman Butterfuss at West Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osceola. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2006. They made their home in New Berlin, Wis. for 30 years and relocated to the Warrens area in 1984. Joyce worked for several years at the Butter Company, New Berlin. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah.

Joyce enjoyed spending time outdoors especially in the flower garden. The vacations up north to the cabin with Norman and family where some of Joyce’s favorite trips. She also enjoyed watching the birds throughout the seasons. Her Saturday lunch dates to the Bog or Perkins with her girlfriends was something, Joyce looked forward to each week. She was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

She is survived by a brother, Gene (Evelyn) Hexum of New Richmond, Wis.; a sister, Pat Turner of Lindstrom, Minn.; five sisters-in-law, Harriet Butterfuss, Ruby Butterfuss, and Darlene (Ronald) Tralmer all of Tomah, Eunice Moseley of Warrens and Sharon Hexum of Maplewood, Minn. Joyce is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; a step-mother, Genevieve Hexum; and seven brothers-in-law, Wally Hexum, Jim Turner, Doyle Moseley, Raymond Butterfuss, Leonard Butterfuss, Leslie Butterfuss and Harold Butterfuss.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m.  Tuesday, May 7, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah. Pastor Curt S. Backhaus will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah."
