Johann Karl "John" DROWATZKY was born in 1794 in Preussen (Prussia).1,3 He emigrated on 20 May 1855 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2 John and Maria with sons Karl, Bernhard, Friedrich and daughter, Bertha, emigrated to America. Leaving Hamburg, Germany on a sailboat in 1855 and 35 days later reaching the United States May 20, 1855, residing in Madison, WI. About 1860 he was a farmer in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.3 John died in 1868 at the age of 74. He was buried in 1868 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 in the Mount Vernon-Jacksonville Cemetery.

Johann Karl "John" DROWATZKY and Mary Elizabeth "Maria" GESS were married in Von Pomen,Trapdon on Tolenze (???), Preussen (Prussia).1,2 Five of their ten children died during the 1848 cholera epidemic.

(The name of the location of their marriage may have been "Vorpommern." It was located near Stettin, close to Berlin.) Mary Elizabeth "Maria" GESS was born in August 1800 in Preussen (Prussia).3,5,6 She emigrated on 20 May 1855 from Preussen (Prussia).1,6 She came to the US with four children, and one remained in Germany. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.7 She was a widow and her occupation was "Keeping House." Maria appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.5 She was living with her son Charles. She died on 22 July 1886 at the age of 85 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6 She was buried in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,6 in the Mount Vernon-Jacksonville Cemetery.

Karl "Charles" DROWATZKY was born in 1822 in Preussen (Prussia).3,5 He emigrated on 20 May 1855 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,8 About 1860 he was a farmer in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.3 Charles appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.7 He was living by himself, between the households of his mother and his brother Bernhard. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.5 His mother was living with him and his occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1900 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.8 Living in his household was his nephew Albert; his occupation was "Farmer." Charles died on 16 February 1901 at the age of 79 in Monroe County, WI.9 He was buried in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 in the Mount Vernon-Jacksonville Cemetery.
