He emigrated in December 1880 from Preussen (Prussia).^1,7 (The 1900 Census listed his emigration year as 1881 and indicated that he had been in America for 19 years.) He was Lutheran in 1900 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ and was listed on the Memberbership Roster of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Gust appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 21 April 1906 at the age of 49.¹³ He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹³ in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
