102. Florence Lorraine FRIESKE was born on 24 June 1930 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁹⁴ She died on 28 November 2011 at the age of 81 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.⁹⁴

Obituary Notes: "Florence Lorraine (Friske) Buncak, 81, passed away in the early morning of Nov. 28 at Bethany Saint Joseph Care Center in La Crosse.

She was born June 24, 1930, at home on a cranberry marsh near Tomah to Harold and Christine (Parker) Friske and attended the Council Creek Country School and St. Paul Lutheran School, and she was a graduate of Tomah High School.

Though she worked as a telephone operator for many years before and after her marriage, she was a career homemaker, a military wife and mother. She also was a volunteer at the Oak Forest Sanatorium and Nursing Home, Onalaska, Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 Ladies Auxiliary and for over 30 years in many capacities at Faith Lutheran Church, La Crosse.

Florence is survived by her husband of 57 years, Michael Buncak TSGT USAF Ret, and letter carrier at the La Crosse Post Office for 20 years, also a resident of Bethany St. Joseph; her son, Michael S. Buncak, a former Marine and LTC USAR Retired and BNSF Railway locomotive engineer and his wife, Marjorie, a medical technologist at Mayo Clinic Health System; her granddaughter, Michelle Buncak-Todd, a senior education major at UW-L, and her husband, Steven Todd, and great-granddaughter, Sophia; her grandson, Micah Buncak, a former Marine and student at WTC; her brothers, James and wife Kathy Friske of Tomah, Arnold Friske of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Ivan and wife Fredia Friske of Tomah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Christine Friske, and an infant brother, Paul, of Tomah.

Thank you to Dr. David Momont and his staff, especially Cathy Becker RN. A special thank you to present and former Staff of Bethany St. Joseph Care Center for their loving care to both my parents. You are family.

Memorial services will be held Thursday (today), Dec. 1, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at the Bethany St. Joseph Care Center Chapel. Pastor Paul Mundinger will officiate. Friends may call at the Care Center on Thursday from noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army."
