Friedrich Carl Emil "Fred" GNEWIKOW Jr. was born on 11 February 1879 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2,14,26,46,84,85 He was baptized on 23 March 1879 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.14 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. His sponsors were Meinhardt Gnewikow (a bother of his father), Dorothea Albrecht (a first cousin) and Fr. Jaskewitz (believed to be his mother's step-brother). He appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.12 Fred was confirmed on 18 March 1894 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.85 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.20 He appeared in the census in 1910 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.23 He was living with his parents. Fred appeared in the census in 1920 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.5 His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.39 He died on 21 June 1946 at the age of 67 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.26,84

Obituary Notes: "Frederick Carl Gnewikow, the youngest son of Frederick and Wilhelmine Gnewikow, was born at Ridgeville, in the town of Wilton, Wis., on Feb. 11, 1879.

On Nov. 20, 1912, he was united in marriage with Elma Vincenz of the town of Ridgeville. One child was born to this union. The deceased resided all his life at the place of his birth, enjoying good health until recently when he was afflicted with an illness which caused his death at the Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse on June 21, 1946. He passed away peacefully at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 10 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers and is survived by his bereaved wife, Elma; one son, Odis, at home; one daughter-in-law, Bernice; two grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. C. E. Berg, were held on Monday afternoon at the Ridgeville Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Norwalk Cemetery." Fred was buried on 24 June 1946 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.2,26,84,86 in the Pilgrim's Home Cemetery.

Friedrich Carl Emil "Fred" GNEWIKOW Jr. and Elma Josephine VINCENZ were married on 20 November 1912 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.26,86,87 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Elma Josephine VINCENZ, daughter of Albert Louis VINCENZ and Luise Friederike Ernestina WILDE, was born on 13 December 1886 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.14,26,88,89,90 She was baptized on 1 January 1887 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.14 at the home of her parents. Her sponsors were August Wilde (her mother's father), Dorothea Wilde (her mother's mother) and Wilhelmine Pergande (unknown relationship). She appeared in the census in 1900 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.20 Elma was confirmed on 21 April 1901 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.90 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1905 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.91 She appeared in the census in 1920 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.5 Elma appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.39 She died on 15 March 1968 at the age of 81 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.26,27,89

Obituary Notes: "Elma Josephine Gnewikow, 81, passed away March 15 at the Monroe County Infirmary. She was born to Albert Vincenz and Ernestine (nee) Wilde, in Ridgeville on Dec. 13, 1886. She was married to Frederick Gnewikow on November 20, 1912. One son, Odis, was born to this union.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers in infancy, and also her husband. She is survived by her son, Odis, his wife, Bernice and their five children, Robert in the state of Washington, Joyce, Mrs. Thurow of Wilton, and Richard and Sarah and David at home; one great-grandchild. She is also survived by three brothers, George Vincenz of Tomah and his wife, and by Reuben Vincenz and Vern Vincenz of Ridgeville.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Ridgeville with Pastor Martin M. Lemke officiating. Burial was in Pilgrim's Home Cemetery at Norwalk." She was buried on 18 March 1968 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.26,89 Buried at Pilgrim's Home Cemetery.
