She was born February 28, 1940 in Sparta, WI, the daughter of Hugh P. and Meta (Wilde) Purdy. Karen attended Beloit Memorial High School. She married Werner Fahrney Jr. on June 15, 1957 in St. John s Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on November 28, 2010.
 
Karen was formerly employed by Besley Wells for 38 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the Phoenix Chapter #215 Order of the Eastern Star and St. Paul s Lutheran Church for 50 years. Karen enjoyed sewing,knitting, crocheting, and playing cards with her friends.
 
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Albert) Hansen of Beloit, WI, Donna (Steven) Smith of Sugar Hill, GA, and Traci (Eric) Gustafson of Winchester, VA; one son, John (Anne) Fahrney of Janesville, WI; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Kilday, Nicole (Dan) Sowatzke, Allison (Dean) Long, Sarah (Brian) Smith, Jon Gustafson, and Ben Gustafson; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Emily and Hunter; nieces and nephews.
 
Karen's family would like to thank Alden Meadow Park Health Care Center and Agrace Hospice for the excellent care they gave to mom during her illness as well as her many friends that will miss her dearly.
 
She was predeceased by her parents, infant daughter, Sandra Fahrney, infant grandson Bryan Hansen; brothers Ortwin Purdy, Otho Purdy, and Bernard Purdy, and sister Marceida Purdy.
 
Funeral services for Karen will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 617 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, WI with Pastor Roger Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
 
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul s Lutheran Church or Meals on Wheels."

He was born March 11, 1936 in Evansville, WI the son of Werner and Esther Keehn Fahrney Sr. Werner was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Karen Purdy on June 15, 1957 in St. John s Lutheran Church, Beloit,WI.
 
Werner was employed by Besly Products, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Werner was also a member of the Phoenix Chapter #215 Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge No. 10 F&A.M., Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191, and the Rock County Rifle and Pistol Club.
 
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Karen Fahrney of Beloit, WI; three daughters, Kathy (Albert) Hansen of Beloit, WI, Donna (Steven) Smith of Sugar Hill, GA, and Traci (Eric) Gustafson of Winchester, VA; one son, John (Anne) Fahrney of Janesville, WI; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Kilday, Nicole Hansen, Allison (Dean) Long, Sarah Smith, Jon Gustafson, and Ben Gustafson; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Emily; two sisters, Pauline (Deyerll) Klug of Ft. Atkinson, WI and Dawn Fahrney of Brodhead, WI; two brothers, Maynard (Zona) Fahrney of Mountain Home, AR and Gene (Alice) Fahrney of Monticello, WI; several nieces and nephews; and special canine friend, Walker.
 
He was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter, Sandra Fahrney, and infant grandson Bryan Hansen.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2010 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 617 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, WI with Pastor Roger Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the church."
