Hope attended Tomah Middle School where she was an honor student in the 7th grade. Her great loves were horses, basketball and boys. She also enjoyed dance, choir, listening to music and watching NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon. Hope was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her parents, Karina Clay and Rex Briney of Tomah; a brother, Sarek Cochems-Wendt of Tomah; her grandmother, Shirley Briney of Tomah, and grandfather, Ralph Briney of Norwalk; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Briney, and great-grandparents, Robert and Genevieve Clay, and was accompanied in death by her grandparents, DeVere and Barbara Clay, and her sister, Erin Briney.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic School gymnasium. Pastor Edwin Stigen, Pastor Mark Benning and The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. Burial followed in the LaGrange Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends called on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the St. Mary’s School gymnasium."

She attended the Lemonweir Elementary School and was in the 5th grade. She enjoyed dancing, tumbling, drawing and spending time with the horses. She loved the movie Charmed and the Art of Magic.
