Obituary Notes: "Earl Clay of Eagle River died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center in Phelps. He was 93. Mr. Clay was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Monroe County. He has been a resident of Eagle River since 1999, but before moving here he lived in Black Earth.

His hobbies included fishing, music, playing the harmonica and feeding wildlife. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Vivian Rosemond (nee Tester); one daughter, Carole (Dan) Hogan of Eagle River; a son, Eugene of Eagle River; a brother, Donald (Eva) of Sparta; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River, with a funeral service to follow at the church. The Rev. William Trosien will officiate. Burial will be in Eagle River Cemetery." He was buried on 27 September 2003 in Eagle River, Vilas County, WI.⁹⁹ in the Eagle River Cemetery.

Earl Robert CLAY and Vivian Rosemond TESTER were married on 18 June 1935.⁵⁴ Vivian Rosemond TESTER, daughter of Melvin Curtis "Mel" TESTER and Margaret "Maggie" RICHARDSON, was born about 1916 in Wisconsin.⁴⁶ She appeared in the census in 1930 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴⁶
