Thomas Eugene "Tommy" CLAY (~) was born on 8 May 1936 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷⁶ He appeared in the census in 1940 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶⁷ He appeared in the census in 1950 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹²¹ Tommy graduated in June 1954 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁹² from Tomah High School. He died on 17 November 2021 at the age of 85 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^293,294 Obituary Notes: "Thomas E. Clay, age 85, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 8, 1936, to Roland and Freda (Vandervort) Clay in Tomah. Tom attended 8 years of grade school at North Tomah School and was a 1954 graduate of Tomah High School.

Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Johnson August 9, 1958. He worked for several businesses in Tomah until 1960 when he started at VanPak / Union Camp, the plastic factory, where he remained until his retirement after 32 years. Together, Tom and Pat owned and operated Clay Warehouse and Manufacturing. When he had spare time, he enjoyed gardening, doing yard work and hobby farming. Tom was an avid traveler and through the course of his life visited over 30 different countries around the globe. In the last five years of his life he was accompanied on many of these trips by his family and good friend, Grace Moseley.

He is survived by his children, Mark Clay of Tomah, WI, Teresa Clay of Hawaii, Brian (Apisak) Clay of Las Vegas, NV and Marie Clay of Las Vegas, NV, 2 grandchildren, Annette (Rinaldo) Baietti and Lori (Michael) Ullemeyer, great grandchildren, Olivia Smith-Williams and Carlo Baietti, a close companion, Grace Moseley, sister-in-law, Sue Clay of Tomah, WI, brother-in-law, Sterling Standiford of Eau Claire, WI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, his parents, Roland and Freda, brother, Gordon Clay and sister, Kay Standiford.

Per Tom’s wishes, he would encourage everyone in attendance to dress casually.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah, WI. JOHNSON and Beatrice BALZELL, was born on 29 August 1939 in Cutler Township, Juneau County, WI.^296,297 She died on 1 May 2012 at the age of 72 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^296,297

Obituary Notes: "Patricia Ann Clay, 72, of Tomah, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 29, 1939, to Russell and Beatrice Johnson in the town of Cutler in Juneau County. Pat attended Necedah High School until the 11th grade, when her family moved to the Madison area. She was a 1956 graduate of Pardeeville High School.

Pat was united in marriage to Thomas Clay Aug. 9, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Tomah. She worked in the kitchen at the Tomah VA Hospital while attending nursing school in La Crosse. She was proud to become an RN and continued working at the Tomah VA Hospital until her retirement in 2008. Pat worked hard to become a great cook and also enjoyed canning. She loved to go to plays and attend family gatherings and social events. Pat and Tom built their dream home in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Mark Clay of Tomah, Teresa (Jeff) Kreider of Hawaii, Brian Clay of Bangkok, Thailand, and Marie Dettinger of Las Vegas; granddaughters Annette and Lori Smith; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Smith; and her dog, Nani; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Beatrice, and sisters Mary (Larry) Watterson and Nancy Morris.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Shennington. Pastor Jeff Ruetten will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, May 4, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends also are invited for visitation Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church."

Mark CLAY (~) was born on 9 May 1959 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^118,298 After 1979 he was a Tanker Driver in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. ²⁹⁹ "A Tomah man has been charged with 19 counts of soliciting a prostitute and six other criminal counts. Mark Clay, 53, was charged June 18 in Monroe County Circuit Court. He was released on a $10,000 signature bond on the condition that he refrain from any contact with the people whom he allegedly solicited. He may not drink alcohol or enter places where alcohol is sold. All 19 prostitution counts are felonies. He also faces felony counts of manufacturing/delivering Schedule I or II narcotics, manufacture/delivery of non-narcotics, threats to injure or accuse of a crime and threats to communicate derogatory information. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct. The complaint says Clay used threats and blackmail against the individuals he allegedly solicited." News story from station WIZM-TV, La Crosse, on 3 July 2012: "A Tomah man, who several witnesses said will basically do anything to get sex from women, was in a Monroe County courtroom Monday. 53 year old Mark Clay listened as Judge Todd Ziegler read off 29 counts against the man. 18 of them dealing with prostitution. The others dealing with threats, battery and drug dealing. Prosecutors contend that over the past couple of years, Clay would offer women around Tomah sex in exchange for cash, drugs and alcohol. Police also found in his apartment, over 40 pairs of used women's underwear, that they claim Clay purchased from women in bars for up to $40 a pair. They were found in bags that were labeled with the woman's name and date he got them. Naked pictures were also found of area women, some Clay apparently paid them to take. It all came to a climax when Clay was arrested for assaulting a bartender in a bathroom at a Tomah bar recently. He's free on a cash bond."
