Obituary Notes: "Oscar Charles Vandervort, 79, of Rockford, IL, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. He was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Tomah, WI, the son of Oscar and Luella (Brown) Vandervort. He married Luella Ten Eyck of Brodhead, WI, on July 15, 1950. He moved to Rockford in 1948 and worked at Greenlee Bros. for 38 years as Supervisor of Quality Control. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved spending time with his family. He faithfully served his Lord at Lovejoy Covenant for 28 years and Windsor Baptist for 22 years. His love was Sunday School and the Bus Ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Luella; daughters, Sherry (Rich) Kovacs, St. Paul, MN, and Peggy (Craig) Lins, Rockford; a son, Steve (Shelly) Vandervort, Machesney Park; granddaughters Tracy, Kristen, Kari and Kendra; great-grandchildren Alyssia and Gavin; sisters Darlene (Louie) Sole and Margie (Clifford) Fader; brothers James (Pat Sment) Vandervort and Darryl (Linda) Vandervort and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Virginia.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Windsor Baptist Church, 1115 Windsor Road, with a visitation Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens."
