Obituary Notes: "Charlie N. Whitney, age 76, of Warrens, WI, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005. Charlie was born in Warrens to Roy H. and Cathryn (Buckner) Whitney on April 21, 1928. He married Connie Jean Purdy on April 18, 1953. He worked 35 years for the Monroe County Highway Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Charlie and Connie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003.

Charlie is survived by his wife Connie and their four children: Vicki Gail (Whitney) Erickson of Marshfield, Elaine Nita (Whitney) Taylor of Yuma, AZ, Mark Steven Whitney of Redlands, CA, and Denise Kay Whitney of Tomah. Charlie is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Justin Tyler Shaw (Vicki), Nicole Ann (Taylor) Colpitts (Elaine), Alan Charles Whitney, Steven Alvarado Whitney, Jonathan Alvarado Whitney (Mark), Drew Alexander Bos and Taylor Whitney Bos (Denise); his brother, Roy (Betty) Whitney, and his sister, Susie (Carroll) Abbott, both of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ed Whitney of MN; and his sister, Cathryn (Whitney) Rogers of Washington.

Funeral services will be held at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Burial will follow in the LaGrange Cemetery near Tomah. Pastor Dennis Frost will officiate. Family and friends may call at the Torkelson Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again from 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, until the time of services. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements."
