He moved from Norwich to Tolland, Tolland County, CT in 1744. After 1744 he was a Selectman, Member of the Legislature and Moderator of the Town Meeting in 1775 during the Revolution in Tolland Township, Tolland County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.79,162,165,180 Deacon Ichabod Griggs is the husband of Sarah Hatch Griggs, and the son of Ichabod 1675-1726) and Margaret Bishop Griggs.

He moved to Tolland, CT in 1744. The first town meeting touching the difficulties between the colonies and England was held on the 5th day of September 1774. Ichabod Griggs was chosen moderator. He was a member of the Connecticut Assembly during the Revolutionary War.

He was deacon of the Tolland (CT) Church, deputy to the general assembly of the province three times, and selectman of the town five years.
