He appeared in the census in 1910 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.457 In 1918/9 Fred was a Director of the Grant Township School Board in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.747 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.458 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.459 Fred died on 15 July 1961 at the age of 81 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.309,313,325,430

Obituary Notes: "Fred Elmer Purdy, son of Edward and Mercy Jane Purdy, was born Dec. 17, 1879, in the township of LaGrange, and passed away at Sparta on July 15, 1961, at the age of 81 years, six months and 28 days.

On May 1, 1898, he married Ada Greeno, and four children were born to this union. Mrs. Purdy preceded him in death six years ago.

In his early years, he worked on his father's farm in Purdy Valley northwest of Tomah, also in the woods of northern Wisconsin and on the railroad section out of Tomah.

He and his family settled on a farm in Union Valley, where they lived for about 24 years. In 1927 he and his wife moved to Tomah, where he has made his home and where he was employed for a while by the Monroe County Highway Department, then at the Milwaukee Railroad shops until 1952, when he retired.

Mr. Purdy was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Edwin D. Purdy of Beloit, George Purdy, Mrs. Abbie Schultz, and Mrs. Lydia Vandervort of the state of Washington. He leaves one son, Hugh Purdy of Beloit; three daughters, Mrs. Iva Hart of Milwaukee, Mrs. Willard Densmore and Mrs. Vera Wilde of Tomah; one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dora Goff; and one brother, Will Purdy, both of Sparta; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, also many nieces and cousins, and friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services were held at the Tomah Methodist church on July 18, with Dr. Roger B. Knutsen officiating. interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah." He was buried on 18 July 1961 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.313,325,748 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Greeno. They were attended by Freddie and Elizabeth Greeno. Ada Alma GREENO, daughter of William Charles GREENO and Julia E. FREEMAN, was born on 12 March 1882 in Little Falls Township, Monroe County, WI.430,649 She appeared in the census in 1900 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.348 She appeared in the census in 1910 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.457 Ada appeared in the census in 1920 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.458 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.459 She died in May 1955 at the age of 73 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.309,430 Ada was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.748 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
