On March 31, 1950, Roy was united in marriage to Betty J. Scholze by the Reverend Harvey E. Schall at First United Methodist Church. Roy farmed on the Rasch family dairy farm all his life. Many may know Roy as “Roy the Butcher”. He did butchering for many farmers in the Tomah area, and surrounding communities. He also worked a variety of part-time jobs: in the fall raking cranberries, fixing machinery at Miller Machinery Dealers and helping Rueben Roder with barn cleaners, to name a few.

When Roy had some extra time he would help out his farmer friends and neighbors, learning numerous skills along that way that he could use on his own farm. Roy also was on the Tomah Area Credit Union board of directors for over 25 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Being an avid outdoorsman, Roy enjoyed hunting, especially his hunting trips to Colorado, spear fishing carp, roasting pigs, smoking fish and bird watching.

Roy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially around the holidays when the family gathered together.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty, of Tomah; his children, Frank (Sue) Rasch of Norwalk, Ronna (Robert) Haack of Algoma; six grandchildren, Hannah (Luke) Simantel, Jon (Cora) Rasch, Seth (Carrie Jensen) Rasch, Danelle (Diana) Doering, Shawna (Mallory Neuenfeldt) Doering and Marshall (Sarah Purzner) Welsh; five great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Averi, Kyle, Bailey, Claire and Sebastian; a sister-in-law, Lindy (Damon) Beville; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at First United Methodist Church, 1105 Butts Ave., Tomah. The Reverend William McBride will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
