34. Eugene F. WEBSTER was born on 2 December 1928 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.36 He died on 28 November 2014 at the age of 85 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.36

Obituary Notes: "Eugene F. Webster, 85, of Sparta, and formerly of Tunnel City passed away Nov. 28, 2014, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. He was born Dec. 2, 1928, to Lawrence and Agnes (Jensen) Webster in Sparta. Gene was raised in Angelo and attended Angelo and Sparta schools.

Gene was united in marriage to Letha nee Manske-Malde Aug. 6, 1949, in Hammond, Ind. In 1955, Gene and Letha purchased a small general store in Tunnel City, which they operated for 35 years. Shortly after purchasing the store, Gene bought a milk route and hauled to the creamery in Tunnel City. Later Gene drove school bus for Tomah school district and worked in the maintenance department. Driving kids to school and events was his passion! He also proudly served the Town of Greenfield as a supervisor for 25 years.

Gene’s hobby was finding an old tractor or any piece of small equipment that needed repair and bringing them back to life. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and friends and also loved family fishing trips to Callahan Lake near Hayward. Gene had an unyielding affection and loyalty for his family, friends and co-workers.

Gene is survived by his wife, Letha; their first son, Howard (Diane) Webster of Tomah, and their children, Lawrence “L.B.” Webster and Brede Webster, his son, Camden, their second son, Bruce (Betty) Webster of Sparta; sisters, Joan (Roger) Strom of Sparta, Carol Betthauser (Philip Murray) of Tunnel City, Edith Webster (Barry Reigle) of Madison, Wis.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Agnes; a brother-in-law, John Betthauser; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Harriette Heibel; and their daughter, Letha “Teddy” Gardener.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Tomah. Pastor Edwin Stigen will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, Tunnel City. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and time of sharing Tuesday at Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church."
