2. Albert J. KORANDA was born on 20 June 1921 in Manchester Township, Jackson County, WI.2 in the Oak Ridge area. He died on 11 March 2005 at the age of 83 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2

Obituary Notes: "Albert J. Koranda, age 83, of Tomah, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born June 20, 1921, in the Town of Manchester (Oak Ridge Area), Jackson County, WI, to Joseph and Mary (Padrta) Koranda. On Oct. 15, 1949, he was united in marriage to Rose Mary Hart in Alma Center, Jackson County, WI.

Albert was inducted into the U.S. Army in October of 1942, during World War II. He trained at Camp Campbell, KY, and then was transferred to Camp Barkely in Texas; from there he went overseas. He was a gunner on an M7 tank in the 12th Armored Division and helped his unit fight its way across France, Germany and into Austria. Following his discharge from the Army, Albert worked on the family farm for three years and then moved to Black Rivers Falls, where he worked at Camp McCoy for two years. He then moved to Tomah after accepting a job at the VA Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant. In February 1983, he retired with 33 years of service at the Tomah VA and a total of 39 years in government service. Albert also worked as the Tomah Distribution Manager of the La Crosse Tribune for 14 years.

Albert was a faithful member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah and was an honorary life member of the Tomah Knights of Columbus and 4th degree member of the Father Francis Heindl Assembly. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, roller-skating, and having and going to garage sales. He was also a great ball player. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by four sons, Dennis (Jan) Koranda and Robert Koranda, both of Tomah, John (Betty) Koranda of Marshfield, and Ronald Koranda of Eau Claire; two daughters, Jean (David) Cramer of Rice Lake and Debra (Rick) Welch of Tomah; two brothers, George (Opal) Koranda of Black River Falls and Adolph (Charlotte) Koranda of Merrillan; 14 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary; his parents, Joseph and Mary; four brothers, Joseph Koranda, Jr., Jerry Koranda, Charles Koranda and James Koranda; and three sisters, Ann Hentschel, Mae Novotny and Ella McLain.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. Burial with full military honors by Tomah VFW Post #1382 followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, March 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah with the rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Visitation was also held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah assisted the family with arrangements."

Albert J. KORANDA and Rose Mary HART were married on 15 October 1949 in Alma Center, Jackson County, WI.2 Rose Mary HART was born on 21 August 1928 in Garden Valley Township, Jackson County, WI.2 She died on 14 January 1998 at the age of 69 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2 She was buried on 17 January 1998 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2

Ronald Mark KORANDA was born on 30 September 1968 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 He died on 9 November 2019 at the age of 51 in Altoona, Eau Claire County, WI.4

Obituary Notes: "Ronald Mark Koranda, 51, of Altoona, formerly of Tomah passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. Ron was born Sept. 30, 1968, to Albert and Rose Mary (Hart) Koranda in Tomah.

Ron was a 1986 graduate of Tomah High School and went on to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance. Ron worked his way up to branch manager at 7-Up, Eau Claire, where he was employed for over 24 years. He took great pride in his work and always exceeded expectations.

Ron’s faith was instilled in his heart at a young age and remained a constant in his life. He had a wonderful smile and generous personality. Ron was a caring family man who was adored by his nieces and nephews. His kindness to them throughout the years may have put him at the top of the favorite uncle list.

Christmas lived in Ron’s heart; he was a true believer in the miracle of Christmas. It was a time when he could play the role of Santa Claus for family and friends. It was also a time that he generously gave to the local Toys for Tot’s program.

Ron loved deer hunting with his family and he had a good success rate, perhaps better than his brothers. One of his favorite places to be was at his cabin on the Black River. He was a great card player and enjoyed going to Las Vegas a couple times a year with his friends. He was also an avid fantasy football player, golfer, as well as an all-around sports enthusiast. Ron loved garage sales, where he looked for and found the best bargains.

Ronald is survived by his siblings, Dennis (Janet) Koranda of Tomah, Robert (Patty Justman) Koranda of Black River Falls, Jean Koranda of Rice Lake, Wis., Debra (Rick) Welch of Tomah and John (Betty) Koranda of Marshfield, Wis.; many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Queen of the Apostles Parish in Tomah. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Family and friends were invited for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, with a rosary beginning at 5 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Visitation was also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements."
