From an article in the Tomah Journal, dated October 16, 1897: "The wedding of Henry Gerke and Gusta Kuthlow, both of Ridgeville, occurs today, Wednesday, Oct. 13. The marriage ceremony will be performed by Rev. Chas. Koehler in the Lutheran church at 3 o'clock p. m. A reception is to be held at the home of the bride's parents to all invited guests."

In 1897 Henry was a farmer in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶⁴ He owned a 140-acre farm in Section 2. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁹ He was Lutheran in 1900 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴⁵ and was listed on the Memberbership Roster of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
