Charles LEA was born on 22 February 1848 in Speen, Berkshire, England.^7,8 He appeared in the census in 1850 in Concord Township, Jefferson County, WI.⁸ He died on 8 March 1913 at the age of 65 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^7,11 (His wife was listed as a Widow in the obituary of his brother, William.)

Charles LEA and Juliaette WHITNEY were married on 6 September 1873.⁷ Juliaette WHITNEY was born on 26 May 1848 in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, NY.¹¹ She died on 27 April 1924 at the age of 75.¹¹
