Johannes "John" LEUCK was born in May 1832 in Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3 (His surname was clearly spelled "Leuck" in the 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1920 Census records, not "Lueck," as were several other families in Monroe County.) He emigrated before 1870 from Preussen (Prussia).2 (The 1900 Census listed his year of emigration as 1880 and indicated that he had been in America for 20 years; but he was listed in Tomah in the 1870 Census, so the 1900 reference was in error.) He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 He was living alone and his occupation was "Saloon Keeper." John appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1 His occupation was "Saloon Keeper." He appeared in the census in 1900 in Jefferson Township, Monroe County, WI.2 His occupation was "Farmer." He died before June 1920 at the age of 88.4 His wife was listed as a widow in the 1920 Census.
