21. Leonard M. LIEFKE was born on 17 July 1917 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.17,31 He died on 11 October 2005 at the age of 88 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire Township, Eau Claire County, WI.31

Obituary Notes: "Leonard Liefke, 88, of Eau Claire and formerly of Wilton and Tomah, died at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005. He was born July 17, 1917, to Adwalt and Martha (Roscovius) Liefke in the Town of Wilton. He was united in marriage to Carmen M. Dedrick on July 9, 1944, at New Bern, NC. Prior to retirement, Leonard worked as a supervisor for Uniroyal Tire. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in October of 1939. After completing his basic training in San Diego, he was assigned to Ewa Field on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. On Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941, shortly before 8 a.m. he heard airplanes crossing over Ewa Field; the air field was across the bay from Pearl Harbor where the Navy ships were berthed. Pfc. Leonard Liefke was stationed with the Marine Fighter Squadron 212 at Ewa Field. He was proud to serve his country and proud of his military service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by two daughters, Lana Waite and Renee Liefke (her friend Blaise) all of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Lisa (Bryan) Krieg of Aurora, CO, and Joe Waite of Colorado Springs, CO; four sisters-in-law, Marie Liefke of Wilton, Evelyn Liefke of Norwalk, Vivian Hall of Montello and Gloria (Dennis) Schmirler of Madison; two brothers-in-law, Joe Dedrick of Montello and Robert (Jeannie) Dedrick of Eastman; a special neighbor and friend, Jim Henneman; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his devoted companion Bailey also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen; three brothers, Vern, Chuck and Martin; five sisters, Lucille, Mae, Ester, Zenoba and Inez.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton. Pastor Ryan Fletcher will officiate. Burial with military honors by the Wilton American Legion will be in the church cemetery."

Leonard M. LIEFKE and Carmen M. DEDRICK were married on 9 July 1944 in New Bern, Craven County, NC.31 Carmen M. DEDRICK died before October 2005.28
