214. Duaine Earl GERKE was born on 26 April 1944 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^8,58,205 He died on 2 March 2021 at the age of 76 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁶⁴

Obituary Notes: "Duaine E. Gerke, 76, of Tomah, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Cranberry Court Assisted Living in Tomah. He was born April 26, 1944 to Doryl and June (Crocker) Gerke. He was a member of the Tomah Senior High Graduating Class of 1962. He was united in marriage to Patty (Carter) Noth on August 21, 1986 in Sparta. 

Duaine worked as a mechanic for Norris-Vernier, Kendall Motors, and Fort McCoy. In his younger years, Duaine worked hauling milk and then for the family business, D&R Trucking.  He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Town of Kirby.  Duaine loved fishing, scratching off lottery tickets, mowing his yard and doing crossword puzzles. Gardening and cooking were his favorite pastimes. Duaine would create his own recipes and made the best apple pie that you have ever tasted. He was a founding member of the Tomah Dart league and enjoyed throwing darts, known by his dart friends as “Scrapper”. He had a witty sense of humor and would do anything for anyone. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids. He enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers. He was a true remote control king only giving it up when he fell asleep in his recliner and Patty snatched it from him. Duaine loved his four legged companions Phoebe, Dach, Noodles, and granddogs Sable and Aspen. Duaine will truly be missed by all who loved him.
 
He is survived by his wife Patty, step-children, Kim (David) Berg of Tomah, Vicky (Thad) Foss of Warrens, Tony (Gina) Noth and Gary (Kim) Noth of Tomah, grandchildren Shelby, Brody, Thane, Marah, Chloe, Sophie, Kennedy, and Caleb, his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, special friend and dart partner Dan Bradley, and other friends and relatives.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald, a sister Karen and a grandson Aden.
 
A private family funeral service will be held."

His grandchildren: Billy (Liz) Franklin, April (Glenn) Davis, Kyle (Brittany) Gerke, Alizabeth Gerke (Loren), Joseph Gerke (Emily), Bryant (Elizabeth) Olsen, Brandon (Leslie) Olsen, Margaret Olsen, Austin (Ashley) Yenter, Anthony (Chelsea) Yenter, Dustin Yenter (Rachel), Trent and Natalie. 21 great grandchildren His brothers and sisters: Beverly Gerke, Linda (Donny) LaBorde, Lucy (Dan) Friedl, Jerome (Cindy) Gerke, Clara (Dale) Pasell, Cindy (Eddie) Kellerman, Deb (Jeff) Koby, and Delbert Gerke. and many more family members and friends. His wife Patty, her children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald, a sister Karen and a grandson Aden, a sister-in-law Suzie.

Duaine’s children will be having a Memorial Service on Friday, March 5, 2021, 6:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral, 801 E. Monowau Ave., Tomah.  Relatives and friends are invited to call from Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service."
