39. Raymond Eugene BAUMBACH was born on 20 November 1916 in Beaver Creek, Monroe County, WI.11,17 (His middle name may have been Elmer.) He appeared in the census in 1920 in Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.18 He died on 19 June 1994 at the age of 77 in Monroe County, WI.49 Raymond was buried in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.10 in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Raymond Eugene BAUMBACH and Dora PATTERSON were married on 21 October 1948 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.11 Dora PATTERSON, daughter of Henry PATTERSON and Dora SMITH, was born on 24 December 1918 in North Bend, Jackson County, WI.11,46 She died on 1 April 2008 at the age of 89 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.46

Obituary Notes: "Dora S. Baumbach, 89, of Sparta died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1918, in North Bend, Wis., to Harvey and Dora (Smith) Patterson. Their family originally came from Glasgow, Scotland.

Her mother passed away when Dora was two days old, due to child birth and the flu epidemic of 1918. She and her brother and sister were raised by her grandparents, Emma and Hugh Smith. Dora graduated from Melrose (Wis.) High School in 1936. She worked at Monroe County Hospital for four years and at Schultz Brothers Dime Store.

Dora married Raymond Baumbach on Oct. 21, 1948, by Pastor Arthur Berg. They farmed in Farmer’s Valley for several years and then moved to Sparta in 1984. Raymond passed away in June 1994.

Dora was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid and Farmer’s Valley Homemaker Club for many years.

Dora is survived by two half brothers, Gary of Melrose, Wis., and Kenneth of Tomah, Wis.; a half sister, Beatrice Scholze of West Salem, Wis.; a stepsister, La Von Zeman of Melrose; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, the Parlow families of Belvidere, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Spencer; and her sister, Zina.

Funeral services will be at

11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Rev. Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
