165. Sonja Lee WESTPFAHL was born on 27 August 1938 in Monroe County, WI.⁶² She died in 1969 at the age of 31.^63,71 She was buried in 1969 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷¹ in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Sonja Lee WESTPFAHL and Loren Emil "Lornie" PIERCE Jr. were married on 25 May 1957 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^{54,156,278,279} at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Loren Emil "Lornie" PIERCE Jr., son of Loren Wesley PIERCE and Bertha Albertina E. SCHROEDER, was born on 22 June 1936 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^62,156,280 He graduated in 1954 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁶⁰ from Tomah High School. He died on 7 February 2005 at the age of 68 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵⁴

Obituary Notes: "Loren E. Pierce, Jr., age 68, of Tomah, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born June 22, 1936, to Loren and Bertha (Schroeder) Pierce in the Town of Tomah. He was united in marriage to Sonja Westpfahl on May 25, 1957. She preceded him in death in 1969. He was united in marriage to Susan Bussinger on Aug. 14, 1971, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah.

He farmed in the Town of Greenfield. He had served on the Greenfield Town Board since 1970, and had served as the chairman since 1972. He was a member of the Tomah Lions Club for 30 years. "OL" Lorny was a strong proponent of county government and a strong advocate of the Highway Department. He served as Monroe County supervisor from 1978 until 1982, then again from 1984 until the present. He served on the Highway Committee from 1979-1981 and then again from 1988 until the present. He also served on the Finance Committee, Personnel and Bargaining, Sanitation and Zoning, Redistricting, and the Unified Board and Senior Services. Most of Loren's 26+ years on the board were serving the Towns of Greenfield, Adrian and parts of Angelo and Lafayette. He also served as Tuesday Night National Bowling League President and on the East Central Select Sire Board. Loren was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, and served on the Church Council, the Building Committee and as the President of the Congregation. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, son and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; three sons, David (Teresa), Larry (Dawn) and Dennis, all of Tomah; two daughters, Rhonda Jean of Verona and Cynthia (Christopher) Kortbein of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Kristine (Peter) Andrastek, Kelly, Katie Mae, Samuel, David, Lee, Scott Pierce and Cullen Kortbein; a sister, Arliss (Kjell) Oliversen of San Antonio, TX; four brothers, Duaine "Black" (Grace) and Charles "Chuck," all of Tomah, Norman "Woody" (Lorraine) of Warrens and Eugene "Buck" (Mary) of Tomah; a brother-in-law, Harold and Delores Westpfahl of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Myrna Giraud of Tomah; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Irene Bussinger of Virginia, MN; a brother-in-law, Larry (Velma) Bussinger of Bloomington, MN, and Karen Bussinger of Virginia, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sonja; a son, Joey Otto; a brother, Ronald "Whitie," and a sister-in-law, Joyce Olson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in the Town of Tomah.

Relatives and friends are invited to call today (Thursday) from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., and at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the services. The family request memorials be given to Tomah Hospice Touch Serenity House and St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School in memory of Loren E. Pierce, Jr."
