150. Helen Joy WESTPFAHL was born on 10 May 1934 in Monroe County, WI.⁶² She died on 26 September 2006 at the age of 72 in Brookings, Curry County, OR.⁵⁴

Obituary Notes: "Helen Joy Starkey, 73, of Brookings, OR, died Sept. 26, 2006, at home, peacefully, in her sleep.

She was born May 10, 1934, in Tomah, WI, to Helen Mahoney and Alloth Westpfahl. Helen Joy was raised and educated in Tomah. On March 24, 1957, she married her best friend, Charles J. Starkey, in Garden Grove, CA. A loving mother to daughter Linda and stepson Glen, Helen was an accounting supervisor for Southern California Edison Company for 30 years. Helen Joy shared and enjoyed many wonderful activities with her devoted husband, Charles. Avid square dancers when younger, their interests turned to aviation. She was an instrument-rated pilot and owner of a Cessna 172 named “Delta Mike”after their first grandchild by Glen Starkey.

After retiring in 1989, Charles and Helen Joy traveled throughout the United States in their RV. In 1995 they were happy to settle in the lovely town of Brookings, OR, while continuing their RV adventures.

Helen Joy was a loving, outgoing and very generous person who enjoyed giving to loved ones and friends. She was vivacious and energetic with a passion for her marriage, grandchildren and her dog, Pfeffer.

Survivors include her devoted husband Charles, loving daughter Linda and son-in-law Martin Anderson of Amarillo, TX, and stepson Glen Starkey of Ventura, CA. Grandchildren Michael Starkey, Helen and Nathan Anderson will sorely miss their wonderful grandmother.

Loving relatives surviving Helen Joy are brothers Merlin, Arlyn, Melvin and Steve (Westpfahl), sisters Leila Mosley and Carol Jean Schmidt and many in-laws and devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Victor and sister Lorene. Helen Joy will be missed by many people whom she loved and who loved her deeply in return. There will be a memorial service in southern California Oct. 21 at 12:30 in the Chapel in the Sky at the Crystal Cathedral at 12141 Lewis in Garden Grove, CA 92840."
