159. Glenn Edward ECKELBERG was born on 2 February 1934 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.34,87 He died on 3 December 2008 at the age of 74 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.34

Obituary Notes: "Glenn E. Eckelberg, age 74, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 14, 1934, to Vern and Nellie (Linehan) Eckelberg on the family farm south of Tomah. He was a 1952 graduate of Tomah High School.

Following high school, he went to tech school in La Crosse for welding; he was the youngest certified welder at the shipyards in Dubuque, IA. Glenn then worked construction on the tunnel in Tunnel City. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for three years.

He was united in marriage to Toni Taylor in July of 1959. Following his discharge from the Army he went to work at American Motors in Kenosha as a welder. Later he worked for the Federal Agriculture Department in Madison and then in Merrill and other various communities in Wisconsin, before moving back to Tomah to start G&T Animal Foods. He also worked for Packerland Packing Company and the Department of Defense in Law Enforcement at Fort McCoy. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Toni of Tomah; daughters, Jan (Charles) Claussen of Tomah, Lynn (Dan) Miller of Kendall and Tracy Erickson (Jim Conner) of Tomah; mother-in-law, Charlotte Pruess of Tomah; brother-in-law, Richard (Lea) Pruess of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Joseph (Tonna) Claussen, Shaun Claussen (Amanda Linenberg) of Tomah, Cole (Kallie) Dinger of Necedah, Megan (Chris) Drinkwine of Kendall, Ellen Erickson and David Roland, both of Tomah, Nicole and Jenna Miller of Kendall and Barney and Stacey Conner of Tomah; great-grandchildren, Todd Claussen and Kira Claussen, Erin Drinkwine and two anticipated; special nephew, David (Anna) Eckelberg and his children Ian and Keith of Kenosha; sisters, Joan (Ervin) Kruk of Upland, CA, and Jean (Donald) Hess of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donn and David Eckelberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah."
