Garner, 85, of Tomah was called to glory on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the Cranberry Court Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug. 3, 1928, to Arnold and Mae (Post) Marten in Tomah. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on Nov. 15, 1928, and confirmed on March 29, 1942, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Lorraine attended Council Creek Elementary and St. Paul Lutheran School. She graduated from the Tomah High School in 1946. On Aug. 26, 1950, Lorraine was united in marriage to August “Bud” Bauman. She later married Arden Garner on May 4, 1974. L orraine worked for 25 years at the Tomah V.A. Medical Center, starting off as an aide and later retiring as a medical clerk. Lorraine was a faithful and devoted member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. She was very active in a variety of different church groups. She also volunteered as a classroom assistant for the kindergarten class at St. Paul School. In her spare time Lorraine enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. During the summer months you could find her outside in her flower garden, where she enjoyed spending time. Lorraine also enjoyed spending time playing numerous games with her friends and family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Dianna) and James (Fran) Bauman both of Tomah; two daughters, Patricia (Pastor James) Tauscher of Kansas City, Mo., Ruth Jacoby of McGregor, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Garner of Memphis, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lula Marten; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and her husband, Arden; a sister, Dorothy (Roger) Svitak; and a brother, Louis Marten. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah, with Pastor Curt S. Backhaus officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Cutler." .
