Obituary Notes: "Delores M. Schumann, 82, of Tomah, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at her home. She was born May 25, 1930, to Alvin and Garlinda (Wappler) Rosenow at Indian Creek. Delores was united in marriage to John Schumann Aug. 23, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kendall.

She worked at Tomah Care Center as a cook, at Toro Company, and at the Habelman cranberry marsh. She farmed in the town of Tomah with her husband for several years. She was a loving and caring person who volunteered at the Tomah VA assisting the patients, visiting and playing bingo at the Tomah Care Center and at the Tomah Hospice Touch. Her hobbies included needlepoint, quilting and sewing. She made quilts for every child, grandchild and almost every great- grandchild. She was an excellent cook and baker and was known for her cinnamon rolls and her dandelion wine. Along with her craft skills, she was known for being a wonderful mother who was able to uplift you when you were down and for her love of strawberry and blueberry picking. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Delores was a very humble mother who always did the best for her family, often putting her family’s needs ahead of her own. She always took great pride in her family and loved her husband very much. She always will be missed and remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John of Tomah; seven children, Linda (Bruce) Puttkammer, Deborah Schumann, Cheryl Linn and Betty (Edward) Jilek, all of Tomah; Teresa (Don) Pedersen of Wilton; James (Kelly) Schumann of Tomah and Timothy (Lisa) Schumann of Sparta; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and an expected great-grandchild; a brother, Duane Rosenow of New Mexico; three sisters-in-law, Joan Connor of Kendall, Jackie Schumann of Elroy and Joannie Rosenow of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Rosemarie Jilek and Courtney Woods; two great-grandsons, Austin Peterson and Lane Lamb; four brothers, Alton, LeRoy, Eldor and an infant brother; and a sister, Bonnie Duer.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 6, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 303 W. Monroe St., Tomah. Monsignor Richard W. Gilles will officiate. Burial will be at a later date."
