Gerald Louis JENSEN was born on 22 August 1927 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.24,87,254 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.24 He graduated in 1945 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.255,256 from Tomah High School. Gerald died on 28 July 2010 at the age of 82 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.254

Obituary Notes: "Gerald “Jerry” Louis Jensen, age 82, of Tomah, Wis., passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Close to Home Assisted Living Facility in Tomah. He was the only child born to Hugh and Lillian Jensen on August 22, 1927, in Sparta, Wis.

He was joined in marriage to Genevieve Samz on June 10, 1950, and they were recently blessed to have celebrated 60 years together. He was a proud member of the United States Navy, and spent time serving on Midway Island.After putting in years of hard work as a carpenter’s apprentice, he fulfilled a life-long dream by building his own business with Harold Christensen, Jensen and Christensen Carpenters Inc.

Jerry was deeply rooted in the community; he was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in building many Tomah area homes, serving as general contractor on large residential projects, taking great pride in his quality work and craftsmanship. Jerry believed his customers deserved his best and was extremely gratified to know that his expertise was appreciated. His greatest enjoyments in life were being a grandfather, socializing with Mr. Evans in their outdoor lounge, deer hunting at Keith Keene’s, raising tomatoes, many woodworking projects, and the Greenwood Café’.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; his son, Richard (Linda) Jensen of Clarksville, Md., his son, Eric (Candace) Jensen of Tomah, Wis., and his daughter, Connie (Jim) Summerfield of Wilton, Wis.; two grandchildren, Megan Jensen of La Crosse, Wis., and Clint Jensen of Tomah.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post #201 will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the Torkelson Funeral Home."
