Obituary Notes: "Louis J. Marten of Wales, Wis., died on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital at the age of 70 years. Louis was born on Dec. 7, 1939, the son of Arnold and Mae (nee Post) Marten. On June 10, 1961, he married the love of his life, Lula Eckelberg. Louis worked as a machinist for Capital Engineering for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wales. Louis proudly served his country in the United States Army. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, daughters and granddaughters. Louis will be deeply missed by his wife, Lula; his daughters, Laurie Bartz of Oconomowoc and Lynn (Brent) Bartlett of Dousman; granddaughters, Autumn and Emily; and sister, Lorraine Garner of Tomah. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy. The funeral service for Louis was held on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 470 North Oak Crest Drive, Wales, WI 53183. The Reverend Allen Behnke officiated. Visition was held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery in Wales. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Bethlehem Evangelical Church, 470 North Oak Crest Drive, Wales."

Louis Joseph "Louie" MARTEN and Lula Mae "Lou" ECKELBERG were married on 5 June 1961.⁵ Lula Mae "Lou" ECKELBERG, daughter of Leonard LaVern ECKELBERG and Edna Emma PURPUS, was born on 17 June 1942 in Monroe County, WI.⁸⁷ She died before October 2020 at the age of 78.²⁹³
