71. Lela HACKETT was born on 25 December 1925 in Tunnel City, Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁸ She died on 10 July 2006 at the age of 80.³⁸

Obituary Notes: "Lela Zimmerman, 80, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at her daughter’s home. She was born Dec. 25, 1925, to Rufus and Maritta (McNutt) Hackett on the family farm outside of Tunnel City. She graduated from Tomah High School. Lela was united in marriage to Eldon E. Zimmerman on June 20, 1948, in Tunnel City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2006. She enjoyed bird watching and had many bird feeders for her wild birds. She also enjoyed reading and working in her garden. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

She is survived by a son, Russell Zimmerman, and a daughter, Jeannine Gerke, both of Tomah; five grandchildren, Matthew (Kendra) Ludke, Shawn (Brittany) Ludke, Travis Zimmerman, Raymond Zimmerman and Nicole (Richard) VanHoof; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude (Marcella) Hackett of Tomah, and a sister, Marlene Hemsey of Winona, MN; a nephew, Dewitt (Lillian) Zimmerman, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur and Leo; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Zimmerman and Julia Zimmerman; a brother-in-law, William Hensley, and an aunt, Thelma Grovesteen.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Pastor Donald R. Buch will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."

Lela HACKETT and Eldon Earl ZIMMERMAN were married on 20 June 1948 in Tunnel City, Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁸ Eldon Earl ZIMMERMAN, son of Otto Frederick ZIMMERMAN and Clara Barbara LACHELT, was born on 21 February 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷³ He died on 5 January 2006 at the age of 85 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁸
