Between 1915 and 1951 Fred was a mail carrier (the first in his town) in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3,29 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 He and his family were living next door to his parents on Jackson Street. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16 They lived at 309 Sumner Street. Fred appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.31 His household was at 309 Sumner Street and his occupation was "Mail Carrier, Government Post Office." He died on 4 February 1981 at the age of 91 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.29,57

Obituary Notes: "Fred A. Neitzel died Wednesday, February 4, 1981, in the Tomah Care Center. He was born June 17, 1889, in Jackson County to Herman and Augusta (Achtenberg) Neitzel. He married Bertha Mails on October 15, 1913.

Prior to his retirement in 1951, he had been a city mail carrier in Tomah.

Survivors are two sons, Harold of Tomah and Marvin of Black River Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Leola) Keene of Tomah; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death on July 10, 1962.

Services were Saturday at 2 P.M. in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah. The Rev. Kenneth Gast officiated and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Ninneman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements." He was buried on 7 February 1981 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,29,32 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Her sponsors were Heinrich Turban, Karl Dreger, Elisabeth Schenk and Johanna Rehmann.
