67. Virgil Vernon NEMITZ⁵⁵ was born on 2 June 1922 in Knapp Township, Jackson County, WI.^13,27,55 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Knapp Township, Jackson County, WI.¹³ He died on 7 December 2015 at the age of 93.⁵⁵

Obituary Notes: "Virgil Vernon Nemitz, 93, long time cranberry grower, of Warrens passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Agape Acres. He was born June 2, 1922, to Benjamin and Bertha (Goetzka) Nemitz.

Virgil attended the Oakdale school in the town of Knapp, served in the U.S. Army and worked in Michigan, until he returned to the town of Knapp to start his cranberry marsh in 1946.

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Delores; daughters, Kathy (Thomas) Henkel of Middleton, Wis., and Peggy Nemitz of Hickory, N.C. He is further survived by grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Henkel, Sara Henkel, Laura Henkel, Aaron (Anne) Rogers and Caroline Rogers; and son-in-law, Howard Rogers; sisters, Florence Kent of San Diego, Calif., Jane Seflow of Warrens; brothers, Gerald (Beverly) Of Hayward, Wis., Kenneth of Melrose, Gary (Carol) of Warrens; and sister-in-law, Marilou Nemitz of Lancaster, Wis.; and many cousins; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Bertha; sister, Agnes Harelson; brothers, Harold, Junior, Ronald; brothers-in-law, William Kent, Gilbert Seflow, Arnold Harelson; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Nemitz, Alice Nemitz and Janette Nemitz.

Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, with full military honors at Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. F amily and friends are invited for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tomah Hospice, Agape Acres and Millston Union Church."

Virgil Vernon NEMITZ and Delores Mae BOWMAN were married.^12,35 Delores Mae BOWMAN³⁴, daughter of Arthur BOWMAN and Pauline RUPNICK, was born on 15 May 1934.³⁵ She died on 18 December 2020 at the age of 86 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁵

Delores was born May 15, 1934, to Arthur Bowman and Pauline (Rupnick) Bowman. Delores was raised in the town of Knapp and Millston by her father Arthur, Grandmother Hulda, and Aunt Gertie. Delores worked for the Zahrte family before marrying Virgil Nemitz in 1955 and moving to the Cranberry Marsh in Knapp, where they worked together and raised their family. Delores attended school in Millston and graduated from Black River Falls high school in 1953.

She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Kathy (Tom) Henkel of Middleton WI, and Peggy Nemitz of Saint Paul, MN. Delores is further survived by grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Henkel, Sara Henkel, Laura Henkel, Aaron (Anne) Rogers, and Caroline (Doug) Rogers; great granddaughters Frances Rogers and Finley Henkel; twin sister Doris Goetzka, and brother Jerry (Loraine) Waller; sisters-in-laws Beverly Nemitz, Marilou Nemitz, and Carol Nemitz; brothers-in-laws Kenneth Nemitz and Gary Nemitz; many nieces and nephews; and the staff at Agape Acres that lovingly cared for Delores the last three years.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Nemitz; father Arthur Bowman; and many brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Interment will be at the Knapp Cemetery for the immediate family. A remembrance service will be held for family and friends at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 Second St SW, Rochester, MN 55902, Agape Acres (Warrens), or Tomah Hospice.
