Dorothea "Dorothy" NICKE was born on 3 December 1912 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.7,10 She appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.7 She graduated in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.10,19 from Tomah High School. Dorothy died on 31 October 2007 at the age of 94 in Rockford, Rockford Township, Winnebago County, IL.10

Obituary Notes: "Dorothea M. Dvorak, age 94, of Tomah, WI, died Wednesday Oct. 31, 2007, after a brief illness at the Swedish American Heart Hospital in Rockford, IL. Dorothea had been a resident at Provena St. Anne Nursing Home in Rockford since November of 2006.

Dorothea was born on Dec. 3, 1912, at her parents’ home at 1423 Superior Ave., Tomah, where she also resided most of her life and raised her family. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah, where she was a lifelong member. Dorothy, as she was known to her many friends, attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Tomah High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1930. On Dec. 8, 1934, she was united in marriage to Eddie Dvorak. To this union three sons were born: Robert, Nicki and Carl. Dorothea worked as a legal secretary and retired from the Farmers & Merchants Bank, as secretary to the bank president. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, Mission Circle, Ruth Circle, Senior Christians, and held many offices in the organizations. She was also a charter member of the Tomah Business & Professional Women’s Club and a member of the Tomah Women’s Club.

She is survived by her sons, Robert J. (Mary Ellen) Dvorak of Rockford, IL, and Nicki E. (Wilma) Dvorak of Oviedo, FL; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and John Nicke; a sister, Laura Woodliff; a step brother, Fred Nicke; her youngest son, Carl (Gail) Dvorak, and a granddaughter, Allison Paige Dvorak.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Curt Backhaus will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church."

Dorothea "Dorothy" NICKE and Edward "Eddie" DVORAK were married on 8 December 1934.10,20 Edward "Eddie" DVORAK was born on 28 August 1908.21 He died on 11 August 1976 at the age of 67.21 He was buried on 14 August 1976 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.21,22 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
