Marvin Earl NEITZEL was born on 8 April 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,145 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.34 He graduated in 1938 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. from Tomah High School. Marvin appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.43 After 1951 he was an owner of Neitzel's Floor Service in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.249 He purchased from his brother, Harold, the floor covering portion of the business of the Neitzel Furniture Mart. He died on 23 March 2013 at the age of 92 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.250

Obituary Notes: "Marvin E. Neitzel, 92, of Tomah, was called to his eternal home on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Touch of Home Assisted Living, Tomah. He was born on April 8, 1920, to Fred and Bertha (Mails) Neitzel in Tomah. He attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School. He was a graduate of Tomah High School Class of 1938.

Marvin worked for his brother, Harold in Neitzel’s Furniture Mart until enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Dec. 2, 1941. He was sent to Lowry Field, Denver, Colo., for training and graduated as an Aircraft Armorer. He was then attached to the 81st Fighter Squadron, 50th Fighters Group based in Orlando, FL.

On April 7, 1943, Marvin was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Betty Hanchett. Marvin was shipped overseas on March 22, 1944, to the European Theatre of Operations until the war ended. He returned to the U.S. on the Queen Mary on July 28, 1945, discharged from Camp McCoy with the rank of T/Sgt. Marvin returned to work at Neitzel’s Furniture Mart until 1951, when he then purchased the floor covering part of the furniture business and established the Neitzel’s Floor Store, which he and his wife, Betty, owned and operated for 35 years.

After retirement, Marvin enjoyed spending time at his home on Wyman Lake near Millston. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time outdoors especially in his garden. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Paul Ev. Church, Tomah. Marvin will be missed by his loving wife, family and dear friends.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty; his four children, Richard (LaVae) Neitzel of Tomah, Beverly (John) Schettler of Sun Prairie, Thomas (Dixie) Neitzel of Tomah, and Kathy (Eric) DeKlotz of Harbor City, Calif.’ six, grandchildren, Kimberly, Mindy, Ryan, Christina, Chad and Jill; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leola Keene;, nieces, nephew other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Frieda; a brother, Harold; a sister-in-law, Marian Neitzel; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Keene.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013,  at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Curt S. Backhaus will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home and  from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Wednesday at the church."
