Doris Laurietta PERGANDE was born on 5 March 1922 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.25,46,81,213 She was baptized on 2 April 1922 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.213 Her sponsors were Frau August Kewit, Frau H. Kewit, and Friedrich Noth. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.34 Doris graduated in 1939 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.43,44 from Tomah High School. She appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.43 She was living in the household of Mary Clark at 620 (?) Saratoga Street. She was listed as a "Servant" and her occupation was "Maid, Private Home." She appeared in the census in 1950 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.128 Doris died on 30 January 1999 at the age of 76 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.25,81 after suffering a heart attack while shoveling snow.

Obituary Notes: Doris L. Waege, 76, Tomah, died Saturday, January 30, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born March 5, 1922 to August and Lydia (Kewit) Pergande in the town of Wilton.

She was united in marriage to Harold L. Waege on December 27, 1941, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. They farmed in the town of Ridgeville and (from May, 1965) owned and operated Waege Implement Co. Doris worked as bookkeeper for the company. They operated the family farms until Harold's death in December of 1990. Doris was a hard working lady and after moving to Tomah she cared for veterans in her home.

She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ridgeville. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Mission Circle. Doris also taught vacation bible school and Sunday School. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three sons, William (Marlys) of Tomah, Bernard (Jo Ann) and Bruce (Angelina), both of Sparta; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Dean) Orr of Waupaca, Krista (Paul) Murphy of Ridgeway, James and Jennifer Lynn of Tomah, Benjamin, Carri, Nathan and Amanda of Sparta, and Jennifer Renee of Minneapolis; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Garrett and Blake Orr; one sister, Bernice Griggs of Tomah; six sisters-in-law, Bernice Laudon, Arlene (Alan) Betthauser, Donnie Elaine (August) Zimmerman, Jean and Lori Waege, all of Tomah, and Lu Waege of Gleason; one brother-in-law, Robert (Arlene) Waege of Tomah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by the three veterans she sponsored and cared for, David Walters, Kenneth Smith and Thomas Lucas.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah, at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 3, with Rev. Donald R. Buch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery." Doris Laurietta PERGANDE and Harold LeRoy "Buck" WAEGE were married on 27 December 1941 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.25,46,242 Harold LeRoy "Buck" WAEGE, son of Ferdinand Gottlieb WAEGE and Anna Marie DEGLER, was born on 10 March 1918 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.25,97,243,244 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.24 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.34 Buck graduated in 1935 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.245 from Tomah High School. He appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.43 He was a "Hired Hand" on the farm of Ralph Pingel and his occupation was "Laborer, Farm." Between 1940 and 1980 he was a farmer in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.25,44 at his wife's parent's farm (22466 CTH A). After selling that farm to his son Bill, he farmed at another farm until his death. He also was the owner of Waege Implement Company in Tomah. Buck appeared in the census in 1950 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.128 His household was described as located "Left, Co. Trunk 'M'" and his occupation was "Farmer, Farm." He died on 28 December 1990 at the age of 72 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.25,244 Obituary Notes: "Harold L. (Buck) Waege, 72, of Tomah, died Friday, December 28, 1990 at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1918 to Ferdinand G. and Anna Marie (Degler) Waege in the Town of Tomah. He was confirmed June 16, 1940 by Pastor Schaller and united in marriage to Doris Pergande on December 27, 1941 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah.

He farmed all of his life in the Tomah area. He also owned his own implement business from 1965 to 1975. He served on the Tomah Town Board and most recently held the position of board chairman. He was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgeville.

Survivors include his wife Doris of Tomah; three sons, William (Marlys) of Tomah, Bernard (Jo Ann) and Bruce (Angelina), both of Sparta; eight grandchildren, Michelle, James, Krista, Jennifer Lynn, Benjamin, Carri, Jennifer Renee and Nathan; two brothers, Lyle (Lucille) of Merrill and Robert (Arlene) Betthauser and Mrs. August (Don Elaine) Zimmerman of Tomah; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Griggs, Jean and Lori Waege, all of Tomah; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday evening at 8 P.M. from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah. The Rev. Donald Falck officiated and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Sonnenberg Family Funeral Home of Tomah assisted the family with arrangements."
