9. John Hawker "Cashie" ACREE11 was born in 1739 in Hanover, Nansemond County, Virginia Colony, British Colonial America.19 (This is a copy of his will.)

Life Sketch: John "Cashie" Acree owned all the land between the north and south forks of the Cashie River in Bertie County, North Carolina. John "Cashie John" resided near Roxobel-Bertie County, NC. as early as July, 1759.

On March 17, 1814 he signed the following will (information obtained from Karen Krugman, P.O. Box 577, Birmingham, MI 48012, krugman1@wwnet.net: "In the name of God Amen. I, John Acree being of sound mind memory and understanding, for which I now devoutly thank my God. Make and ordain thiis my last will and testament___manner and form following viz:

1st I lend unto my beloved wife Patience Acree___and plantation whereon I now reside, two Negroes___ and ___ all my household and kitchen furniture her choice of my hoorses and once cow and calf during her natural life.

2nd I lend unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth V___ after the death of myself and wife the land___plantation whereas we now reside during her lifetime. I give and bequeth__land and plaantation to the heirs naturally begotten of her body.

3rd I lend unto my beloved son Leonard Acree the track or parcel of land beginning at two___north spring of Cashie swamp then along a __marked trees to a corner a dogwood then along said Harrell's line to the corner in Cashie swamp then up said swamp to the first station during his natural life. It is my wish and desire that the said tract__________of land be equally divided between hiis two______.

4th I give and bequeth unto my beloved son Henry Acree a certain tract of land beginning at a white ash maple, on the _____then along that line of marked trees to a _____pine then along a line of marked trees to a corner, to a mulberry tree in the old field. then along a line of marked trees to a corner pine then along a line of marked trees to a corner and oak and pine then along a line of marked trees to Christopher Harrell's corner, a pine then down Hobbs line to hiis corner in Cashies swamp. Then up____ said swamp to the North of Dan Branch then up said branch to the front______too him and his heirs forever.

5th I give and bequeth unto my beloved son William Acree a certain track or parcel of land beginning at William grandberry's to a mapel and two oaks a corner then along a line of marked trees to a corner and sweet gum tree then along a line of marked trees to a corner two pines then along another line of marked trees to William Grandberry's corner on Samuel Grandberry's line to him and his heirs forever.

6th I give and bequeth unto the heirs of my son Edward, dec'd two hundred dollars.

7th I give and bequeth unto my grandson Jeremiah Itcutt Two hundred dollars.

8th I give and bequeth unto my grand daughter_____Duke two hundred dollars.

9th I give and bequeth unto my beloved son John Acree Five Hundred Dollars.

10th I give and bequeth unto my beloved Daughter, Nancy Five hundred Dollars.

11th I give and bequeth unto my beloved daughter Patience one negro girl named Lacy during her natural life I give and bequeth said negro girl to her heirs lawfully begotten of her body.

12th It is my wish and desire that the reaminder of my estate not given away be sold, my just debts paid and the balance equally divided between my son John, William, Henry and Leonary and my daughters Patience, Elisabeth and Nancy.

Lastly I constitue and appoint my trusty friend Thomas____ and William Hinton executors. this my last will and testamnet, in _____thereinto set my hand this 17th day of _____1814.

John Hawker "Cashie" ACREE and Patience VIERS were married about 1759 in Virginia.8 Patience VIERS10,11 was born in 1740.19 She died in 1814 at the age of 74.19
