Alwinus "Albert" KIRST was born on 21 December 1849 in Kasmar, Sachsen (Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,5,10,29 (His given name may have been "Alwinus," but in the confirmation record for his daughter Anna it was spelled "Alwin.") He was Lutheran in 1862 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁰ He was listed in the Church Register as member number 31 of the first 100 members of the congregation of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He and his family are listed in the church Communion Register in the early 1890's. He was confirmed on 20 October 1867 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Albert appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.² He died on 12 February 1932 at the age of 82 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³¹ in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Alwinus "Albert" KIRST and Friederike MATZKE were married on 30 March 1875 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^5,10 Friederike MATZKE, daughter of Johann MATZKE and Wilhelmine UNKNOWN (MATZKE), was born on 21 September 1855 in Preussen (Prussia).^5,10
