Descendants of Stephen Hopkins
Stephen Hopkins was one of the approximately 100 passengers on the voyage of the Mayflower from Plymouth, England, to Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts Bay, New England Settlement, British Colonial America, in 1620.
He was not one of the Pilgrims escaping personal religious persecution; rather, he was one of the "Strangers" who joined the Pilgrims to fill up the passenger load. According to the ship's manifest, his occupations were "tanner, leathermaker and merchant." His exact age at the time of the voyage is not known, but he is believed to have been about 30 years old.
He was the 14th of the 42 signers of the Mayflower Compact.
