Descendants of Johann Achtenberg
The earliest that we have been able to trace our Achtenberg ancestors is to about 1790, with the births of Johann George Achtenberg and his wife Dorothea Elizabeth Hedke.
Their son Martin was born in Kreis (County) Obornik in the north-central section of the Posen Province of Prussia in 1817. Martin married Gustine "Anna" Kuthlow in about 1850 and they had three daughters---Emilie, Ernestine and Gustie--and four sons--Wilhelm, Carl, August and Martin.
The Achtenberg family became connected to the Pergande family in the Tomah area when one of Ernestine's daughters married Johann Jaskiewicz, and one of their daughters, Auguste Lydia Kewit, married August Friedrich Wilhelm Pergande in 1910.
